Alvarado (34-4, 23 knockouts), who is 1-4 in his last five bout and hasn’t fought at junior welterweight since being stopped by Ruslan Provodnikov in October 2013, will be taken out of the 140-pound ratings. Everyone else will move up one spot and Mauricio Herrera (21-5, 7 KOs) will enter at No. 10.
Other RING-rated contenders were in action this past weekend:
Super middleweight: No. 7-rated Gilberto Ramirez (31-0-1, 24 KOs) won a unanimous decision over unrated Maxim Vaslov. No movement.
Junior featherweight: No. 9-rated Rey Vargas (23-0, 20 KOs) made short work of unrated Nestor Paniagua with a second-round TKO. No movement.
Junior bantamweight: No. 3-rated Srisaket Sor Rungivisai (32-4-1, 29 KOs) scored a third-round TKO over unrated Ardi Tifa. No movement.
