The weekend is approaching, and from Friday to Sunday it will be “fight-o-clock” somewhere in the world. Every Thursday, The Ring will bring you the most up-to-date information on the most relevant fights you need to see in this week-at-a-glance, one-stop enhanced fight schedule. A quick checklist for the cognoscenti, a useful nuts-and-bolts guide for the boxing neophyte is what we’re aiming at.

Here are this week’s most relevant fights:

Friday, August 16 – Rivermarket, Tuscaloosa, Ala.

Deon Nicholson vs. Sergio Jimenez, 10 rounds, light heavyweights

Jessie Fletcher III vs. Marquis Hawthorne, 6 rounds, welterweights

Keontae Modley vs. Shaquille Cameron, 6 rounds, super middleweights

KeAndrae Leatherwood vs. Anthony Blake LaCaze, 6 rounds, super middleweights

Friday, August 16 – Coliseo de Combates, Panama City, Panama

Harvin Aguirre vs. Alberto Mosquera, 10 rounds, welterweights

Leonardo Carrillo vs. Lester Santi, 10 rounds, junior featherweight

Saturday, August 17 – Centre Videotron, Quebec City, Canada

Christian Mbilli vs. Sergiy Derevyanchenko, 10 rounds, super middleweights

Mbilli has been waiting in the wings for a few years now, waiting for an opportunity to shine and grab a belt in the 168-pound division. Unfortunately, this is Canelo’s land, and everyone else just lives in it. While he waits for the freckled boy wonder to give him a shot, the battle-hardened Derevyanchenko should be quite a stern test for us to see where Mbilli stands today.

Also on this card:

Arslanbek Makhmudov vs. Guido Vianello, 10 rounds, heavyweights

Osleys Iglesias vs. Sena Agbekol, 10 rounds, super middleweights

Abdullah Mason vs. Mike Ohan Jr., 8 rounds, lightweights
